Eczema, characterized by dry, itchy, and inflamed skin, is a frustrating condition to have, until you learn to manage it. For those seeking quick relief, natural remedies can offer a soothing solution. If you’re looking for fast-acting, natural ways to ease your eczema symptoms, look no further! In this blog post, we’ll explore three powerful remedies that help alleviate eczema in just three minutes.

On another note, some find relief in topical application of olive oil and coconut oil too but they don't work for me. These two oils are great help when I consume them orally but topically applied, they both cause a burning sensation on my eczema prone skin.

The following are what works for me, and I hope they help you too.

1. Blackcurrant Seed Oil

Blackcurrant seed oil is extracted from the seeds of blackcurrant berries and is renowned for its high content of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an essential fatty acid.

How It Works: GLA is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce the redness and itching associated with eczema. A study published in the Journal of Dermatological Treatment found that GLA can improve eczema symptoms by decreasing inflammation and enhancing skin barrier function.

How to Use: Simply apply a few drops of blackcurrant seed oil directly to the affected areas. You should notice a soothing effect almost immediately, as the oil penetrates the skin and begins to relieve dryness and irritation. Blackcurrant seen doil is not an oily oil. Think of it like dry oil. It won't oil the stuff you touch or smudge all over.

2. Shea Butter

Shea butter is the fat extracted from the nuts of the shea tree, native to Africa. It's packed with vitamins A, E, and F, and has been used for centuries to moisturize and protect the skin.

How It Works: Shea butter has deep moisturizing properties and can help restore the skin’s natural oils, which are often depleted in eczema patients. According to a study in the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology, shea butter’s emollient properties improve skin hydration and enhance the skin barrier, which can reduce eczema flare-ups.

How to Use: Gently massage a small amount of shea butter onto the affected skin areas. It melts at body temperature, making it easy to apply and absorb. The immediate effect is a noticeable reduction in dryness and itching. You can also make your own eczema relief cream mixing shea butter and blackcurrant seed oil.

3. Snail Mucin Balm

A good snail cream contains a high percentage of snail mucin, a secretion from snails that is rich in glycoproteins, glycolic acid, and hyaluronic acid. This compound has gained popularity for its skin-rejuvenating properties.

How It Works: Snail mucin helps to repair and regenerate the skin barrier, thanks to its rich content of growth factors and antioxidants. Research published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science highlights that snail mucin enhances skin repair and reduces inflammation, making it a beneficial treatment for eczema.

How to Use: Apply a thin layer of a very high quality snail cream or essence to the affected areas. The cream is quickly absorbed, delivering its beneficial components directly to the skin and providing immediate relief from discomfort and inflammation.

I personally use the Advanced Snail 92 All in One Cream from Cosrx and it works great on my eczema affected skin. They come in huge 100ml packaging and thus, last for at least one year in my case.
